We often take it personally if our guys fall asleep after sex. “Am I no longer intellectually attractive to bag a conversation?” asks every woman after seeing the guy sawing logs once he has had his moment. But is it a cause of such vexation? Probably not. Science explains why men may need sleep more than talking about love and life with you post sex.

THE CHANGES IN CHEMISTRY: A man’s body chemistry undergoes a change as soon as he has climaxed. The drowsiness is a result of a biochemical, called prolactin, which makes him very tired.

DEPLETION OF ENERGY PRODUCING GLYCOGEN: The authors of ‘Why Men Fall Asleep After Sex?’, Mark Leyner and Billy Goldberg, explain the phenomenon by saying, “It is thought that exertion during sex and after climax depletes the muscles of energy-producing glycogen. This leaves men feeling sleepy. Since men have more muscle mass than women, men become more tired after sex.”

MAN'S ORGASM IS EXPLOSIVE: Explosive orgasm is the one in which energy is directed out of the body. In contrast, implosive orgasm is the one in which energy is internalized. As per the tenets of Tantric sex, a man’s orgasm is explosive in nature, hence, it leads to a loss of energy, making him tired after sex.

#NOTALLMEN: Experts say that not all men want to sleep after sex. Some want to cuddle and talk. Also, there are many women who want to sleep after sex.

WHAT YOU CAN DO: If you don’t want your man to sleep after your session, arrange it at a time when he will prefer not to sleep afterwards, such as just before his favourite show or before a food delivery.

EXPECTATION MISMATCH?: Also, tone down your expectations. If he cannot stay awake for 30 minutes to love talk with you, settle for 15.
