DMK to gather all-party meet on Cauvery stream issue, says MK Stalin; Kamal Hassan to go to also

Chennai: DMK has chosen to assemble an "all-party meeting" on the Cauvery issue in which performer Kamal Hassan, who will dispatch his gathering one week from now, has consented to go to, party working president MK Stalin said on Sunday

The DMK took the choice as the AIADMK government was not paying regard to his request to hold an all-party meeting in the wake of the Supreme Court lessening the quantum of water from Cauvery waterway to the state, he told columnists in Chennai on Sunday night.

"As an Opposition party, we host chose to assemble an all gathering and will welcome AIADMK which is the decision party... we will likewise welcome BJP," he said without specifying the date of the proposed meeting.

"Not just that. I have specifically welcomed Kamal Hassan, who will dispatch his gathering on 21 February. He has guaranteed he will take an interest," Stalin said.

To an inquiry on performing artists Hassan and Rajinikanth's political invasion, Stalin said anybody can enter legislative issues.

The Supreme Court had on 16 February guided the Karnataka government to discharge 177.25 tmcft of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, lessening the quantum indicated by the council in 2007.

DMK has hit out at the state government blaming it for bumbling treatment of the case in the Supreme Court.
